Now we're off to Paris!

Two great boutique hotels:

Hotel Montalembert

"Interior designers go ga-ga. Writers and their agents love it for lunch. It's neither Seventh Arrondissement baroque-ornate-stuffy, nor is it one of those faded, low-ceilinged haunts so prevalent in the Latin Quarter. Located just off the Boulevard St Germain, the Montalembert manages to be timeless, fashionista, high-tech, and Left Bank — all at the same time. It's the perfect place to be spotted with your BlackBerry and your best black, drinking sherry and reading Simone de Beauvoir. Needless to say, during fashion week, while the models are eating strawberries at Hotel Costes, their editors are at the Montalembert comparing notes. Since it first opened in 1929, the Montalembert has been a hot spot for the Parisian literati. Thanks to Grace Leo-Andrieu and Francois Champsaur, the hotel has changed—better food, better décor—but the crowd has not. "

and Hotel Mayet

"In this case we’re not talking about the kind of haute-luxury minimalism that fills the pages of the interior design magazines. The Mayet is perhaps brighter, more cheerful, more colorful and eclectic than what we’re used to seeing; there are options around Paris if you’d like to stay somewhere more sober and grown-up, and pay twice as much while you’re at it. From the lobby, bedecked with graffiti by a local Parisian artist, you know what you’re in for. Cheaper and a very fun modern vibe."

Enjoy!!

Love it!: Chloe's New Fall Collection

In his first collection as the new designer for Chloe, I think that Paulo Menim Andersson did a great job (though I know many seem to be pining for old Chloe's more 'flow-y' look)....of course this is coming from a girl who loves dark colors and simple shapes.

Love the colors (olive brown, to-die-for), love the cuts and drape, love the simplicity. These are wonderfully wearable pieces to build upon....classics!

A smattering below.

Secretary Dress. Absolutely ADORE this dress. Stunning.

Silk Keyhole Dress.

Quilted Ankle Boot. And the boot to match.

Button Top. Simple, chic, timeless.

Printed Silk Top.

Thoughts? And what of designers taking a label in a new direction. This seems to be heralded sometimes, often lamented by others (Isn't change good?) who want labels to have a certain sense of continuity or in some cases downright scorned upon (think Marc Jacobs in the 90's with the grunge Perry Ellis collection for which he was fired--of course we all know how this turned out).

I think like anything its about balance.

From Bergdorf's New Fall Missoni Collection:

A glimpse of Missoni's pre-Fall collection, new at Bergdorf Goodman. I actually tried this Ribbed Dress (at left) in Montreal last month (they pulled it from the 'special' back room as it had just arrived) and loved it. Now I have to admit, I am not yet a Missoni girl, I've always been a little scared of too much pattern and color...I know, I know, I'm so 'boring New York clad in black girl', but its true. So when I tried this dress it was a happy medium, dabbling in a little Missoni without all the color. Now some might argue, 'whats the point then'?, but even without the color you still get that wonderful Missoni fabric weave and delicate blend of silk and wool to pull off a beautiful shape and hang to the dress. Soooo for those of you that have not yet forayed into the world of Missoni, I would suggest this dress as a nice stepping-stone. I've heard like Louis Vuitton's it becomes an addiction! And hey there are far worse addictions than buying valuable, collectible, highly re-saleable pieces such as Missoni clothes and Louis Vuitton bags, right? Or at least that what I tell myself!

A few more pieces below:

Cashmere Turtleneck. With Ruching, love it!

Dotted-Striped Dress. So chic. So easy, just add tights and boots and your done.

Have a wonderful weekend dahlings!

Olsen 'Pic' of the Day: Mary-Kate in LA with Beau Max...Rocking the Long Scarf and Prada Fringe Bag

Mary-Kate in LA yesterday with beau Max.

Love the long scarf look. Adore the faded black skinnies..I think they have zippers, which is doubly cool (and also makes them possible to get on, while still giving you the max thinness at the ankle!). Love aviator Ray-Bans (these are the smaller frame version) but not such a fan of the blue/purple tinted lens... and speaking of I have a few pairs of Ray Ban Wayfarers to feature on Steal my Clothes! Also, personally, have never been a huge fan of the upper arm cuff...I just think its uncomfortable and looks weird. She's still working the strappy sandal/heels and Prada fringe purse. Me: not so much buying into the fringe trend...its never been much my style, looks cute on her though.

Meet Joy Gryson, the Creator Behind Gryson Handbags

If you have the chance Friday afternoon (maybe on your lunch-break?), run over to Bloomies and meet Joy Gryson. Joy, who used to work as Director of Design for Marc Jacobs Handbag and Accessorises division, is the fantabulous creator behind Gryson bags, they are newish on the scene, but not shabby at all, beautifully constructed from high quality leather and suede made in Italy. Very covetable indeed. Check out my post that covered Gryson bags from last month.

A fave below:

Cynthia Rowley's new collection at Bergdorf Goodman, I approve!

In the past I have been a little afraid of Cynthia Rowley's clothes, for me they were a little girly, too frilly, feminine and light....but this new collection, exclusively online at Bergdorf Goodman is amazing, it has just enough hard edge to please me!!! Great contrast between feminine cuts and drape and definitive lines, which serves the purpose of hardening the softness. My favourites below. Enjoy!

Beaded silk dress. The silk fabric line inlay seems to be a repeated affair in several of the collection pieces. I like the way it creates a theme, unifying a vision.

Sweatshirt dress.

Metallic Silk Dress.

Sleeveless Banded Dress.
I love this dress, and once again the wonderful use of fabric inlay really tempers what could be a very soft look giving it a much more balanced feel. I love, love, love her use of these solid stripes throughout the collection. Such a cool unifying theme.

See the full collection here.

Saturday

Most Wanted: Robert Rodriguez High-Waist Pant

Robert Rodriguez (who I love!) High Waist Pants. Available at Bergdorf Goodman on 5F.

Belted Pants: Black/cream stripes.
High, double-belted waist.
Flat front.
Flared legs.
Front zip.
98% cotton, 2% Lycra®.
Imported of Italian materials.

I know a lot of people are all down on the high-waist, but as I have stressed before, wear what suits you. Now, for me, having long legs and a long torso/high waist this style is a god-send...plus I think it looks very cool.

Muted Shades...Bags in Assorted Shades of Neutrals

A nice selection of the muted theme in handbags. I especially love the new collection from Gryson (who was formerly a bag designer at MJ).
Miu Miu Coffer Frame Bag in Sand, available at Net-A-Porter.

Chloe Edith Leather Shoulder bag in Nutmeg. Available at Net-A-Porter.Miu Miu Leather Coffer Bag, available at Net-A-Porter.

Gryson "Sophie", Seamed Satchel in Burgundy, available at Bergdorf Goodman.

Gryson "Rachel", Pocket Shoulder bag, available at Bergdorf Goodman.

Gryson "Olivia", Leather shoulder bag, available at Bergdorf Goodman.

Cle de Peau Concealer

Also, FINALLY picked up a tube of the very famous Cle de Peau Concealer that EVERYBODY raves about. InStyle has featured it every year in their annual 'Best Beauty Buys'. It is as amazing as everyone says. LOVE it.

The consistency is lovely, it goes on creamy and dries matte, has wonderful staying power and very true colors. The best part: the packaging. It has what has become my favourite case ever, it is so old-world glamour, reminds me of 1920's Hollywood, it has a nice weight to it, not cheap and flimsy plastic and a very austere dark blue color with accents of gold to give it light and glamour!!! Who would thought concealer could bring such joy!!

At Bergdorf Goodman CdP is having a Spa/Facial event May 3rd and 4th, this is a great way to get an in depth look at what products you should be using on your skin. Call Hilda (that's right just like Betty's sister on "Ugly Betty") at (212) 872.2726 if you are interested in setting up an appointment.

Available at Bergdorf Goodman.

The Perfect Pale Lip courtesy of Edward Bess!

Popped into Bergdorf Goodman yesterday to browse the cosmetic section for new Spring picks.

Stopped to chat with Edward Bess about his lipstick line and accidentally discovered the perfect formula to create the Pale Lip look that I wrote about last week.

I used 'Nude Lotus', one of his amazing lipsticks, as a base and then topped that off with 'Desert Glow' one of five 'Deep Shine Lip Glosses' he sells.

As I mentioned when I first wrote about Edward Bess, these lip products smell SOOOO good. They are scented with wild Fig. And they really are wonderfully moisturizing. Finished product: gorgeous.

Have to run out, but will post a picture of the lip color later in the evening...(Done: see pic above, sorry for the glare!)

Oh and a quick note, a lipstick from the Edward Bess line will be featured in the July 2007 issue of InStyle Magazine...according to Bess, it is most likely 'Natural Seduction', which is a Taupe-y shade that I tried last night, so beautiful, perfect with the 'Nude Lotus' on top....anyway the theme being 'sophisticated' in the style of Dita Von Teese. Ummm, sounds intriguing.

Ta Ta dahlings,
